Cottonwood

Cottonwood trees can live up to 400 years and grow trunks over 6 feet wide, making it the largest hardwood tree in North America. Color varies from a nearly white to yellow sapwood, which smoothly blends into its light brown and sometimes reddish-bordered heartwood. Cottonwood is easy to work, however it does have the tendency to warp during the drying process. The grain is mostly straight, though irregularities are common and add to the character of the wood creating exquisite slabs when milled. Here at California Pacific Specialty Woods we have a generous selection of Cottonwood slabs and boards to choose from here.
